House adjourned; Cong, BJP take Simhastha battle outside

BHOPAL : The state government and Congress are on a confrontation course on the issue of corruption in Simhastha.

After commotion leading to adjournment of House on Friday, both the Congress and the government presented their arguments on the issue. While Minister for legislative affairs Narottam Mishra talked to journalists on assembly premises, state Congress chief Arun Yadav addressed a press conference at PCC.

Mishra said Congress MLAs created a din  in the House as Congress state president Arun Yadav was in the visitors’ gallery. Mishra said if Congress feels anything wrong has been done, then it should go to the Lokayukta.

Meanwhile PCC chief Arun Yadav said a Rs 4000-crore scam was scripted in Simhastha and that the assembly Speaker had taken a one sided decision by not allowing discussion on the issue. Yadav alleged that the state government was trying to avoid discussion on Simhastha. He added that the party will move courts seeking CBI probe into the irregularities.

Mukesh Nayak said at the press conference that to organise the fete the government took 40 hectares of land on lease from the farmers, who are yet to get back their land.

He alleged that for the pilgrims 750 drinking water spots were established, each was cost Rs 2,50,000. These spots have to be equipped with the RO water treatment plant but only in 30-35 spots the plant was established rest of them were run without plant.

Only 195 of 53K toilets were unacceptable: Mishra

Narottam Mishra said Congress has been creating a ruckus for such a long time on the issue of toilets construction but after third party evaluation it has come to the fore that out of 53,000 toilets only 195 toilets were of unacceptably low quality. In 21,000 toilets, the deficiency was up to 2 to 3 per cent only. Only 245 out of 22,000 bath rooms were found unacceptable. Mishra told Thermos was bought for Rs 1400 while a crockery set was bought for

Rs 1680, slippers for Rs 40 and broom for Rs 100. Mishra said there is no rationale behind Congress raising the issue of Simhastha on the last day of the session. He said we were asking for permission to give our reply.

4427 toilets missing: Nayak

Congress MLA Mukesh Nayak alleged that 4427 toilets are missing. He claimed that in order to oblige a special person the tender process for Malwa Mahotsav was cancelled twice. Kiosks having only four earthen pots were made for Rs 2.40 lakhs  Rs 350 crore were spent for diversion of Khan river while its contaminated water is still mixing into Shipra river. MLA Govind Singh alleged that water tanks worth Rs 50 crore are missing. Officers claim that they have been taken by saints. Singh said saints and seers are being defamed to suppress corruption.
