Jhabua : Hostel constructed with the help of university grant commission, in the premises of the local degree college, with an expenditure of 80 lakh rupees, is still untouched and is now depreciating. The doors and windows of the hostel are now getting weak and have started creaking. This hostel was constructed in the premises of Chandra Shekhar Degree College a decade ago, so that students from the aboriginal region, who come here for higher studies, could be provided with better facilities. Ever since the hostel was built, it was never been used as a hostel. Students who are studying in the college have to acquire rooms other than the hostel, with rent equivalent to that of the hostel fees and the government pays it for them.
As per the received information, though the hostel is constructed by the UGC, but the budget statement for the management of this hostel was never discussed and allotted, hence it could not be used for the students. The only use of this hostel was observed during the recent health camp, for a couple of days.
Similarly, there has been a continuous demand for the construction of a stadium in the premises by all the players and various committees. The state government has sanctioned an amount of 1.5 crore rupees for the same. Though the construction commenced, but a sudden halt was observed and there is no progress for past three-four months. Now people doubt the further construction.
