Himadri Singh to be Congress candidate in Shahdol

BHOPAL: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) announced its candidates for the Shahdol Lok Sabha and Nepanagar Vidhan Sabha by-elections on Tuesday.

Himadri Singh will be the party’s candidate in Shahdol and Antar Singh Barde in Nepanagar.

He Shahdol bye-polls were necessitated by the demise of BJP MP Dalpat Singh Paraste in June this year.

Both the Congress and the BJP were eyeing Himadri Singh, daughter of former MP Rajesh Nandini Singh and former union minister Dalbir Singh.

The Nepanagar Vidhan Sabha bye-elections were caused because of the death of BJP MLA Rajendra Shyamlal Dadu in a road accident. The Congress candidate Antar Singh Barde is a member of the Burhanpur district Panchayat and vice-president of MP Adivasi Vikas Parishad.

Nominations can be filed in the two constituencies from October 26 to November 2. Withdrawal of nominations will be allowed on November 5. Voting is on November 19 and the votes will be counted on November 22.
