BHOPAL :  CISF woman constable, who had attempted suicide on August 5, recorded her statement before Naib Tehsiladr Nikita Tiwari at People Hospital on Thursday.

In her statement Ritu Kumari Chauhan, 25, told the police that punishment for reaching late on duty and refusal to grant leave forced her to attempt suicide by shooting herself on August 5. In her statement, Ritu has claimed that she was harassed by her deputy commandant Vijay Kumar for being arriving late on duty and not providing her leave to go to her house at Muradabad in UP for Rakshabandhan.

SP (North) Arvind Saxena said that the statements of the victim has been recorded by Tehsildar Nikita Tiwari and in the statements victim has claimed that her Deputy Commandant Vijay Kumar has punished her on a petty issue and was not ready to hear her explanations for the delay.

The condition of the victim remains critical even after 48 hours of the incident as her lungs have also been infected and as the bullet was fired from very close range crossed the stomach puncturing it. Following this, the victim suffered huge blood loss.

She was also given a punishment of standing for two hours which augmented her frustration. The family members of the victim provided the same details regarding the harassment of the victim and claimed that she was harassed by her senior officer.

The father Amar Singh Chauhan and brother Prahlad of Ritu Chauhan met State Woman Commission’s president Upma Rai.  A day before the incident victim had told her friend Surendra Singh who is posted in ISBT about the harassment by Deputy Commandant Vijay Kumar. She was posted at the Raja Bhoj airport.
