BHOPAL : The Hanuman Ganj police nabbed a gang of three vehicle lifters and recovered stolen bikes worth Rs two lakh from their possession on Tuesday night. Another thief was held by Piplani police with booty of Rs 1.50 lakh on the same night.
According to TI Jitendra Pathak, a team of cops was searching for vehicle lifters in police station area on Tuesday night. The team spotted a history sheeter near Hayat Hospital in Kabadkhana area in a suspicious condition. Cops identified him as 22-year-old Rakesh alias Golu of Gautam Nagar.
During interrogation he confessed to vehicle lifting. An accomplice with him was identified as 18-year-old, Shahid of Nawab Colony. The duo told cops about another minor member of the gang and he was also held with a stolen bike. Cops recovered total six stolen bikes from the accused. They stole the bikes from Hanumanganj, Mangalwara, MP Nagar, TT Nagar and Habibganj areas.
In another incident, a thief was held by Piplani police with jewellery and electronics items stolen from a courier company of Indrapuri.
According to Piplani police sources, the manager of E-Com Courier Company had complained to Piplani police about theft of ten packets containing gold jewellery, three mobile phones and a tabloid. The packets went missing from November 15 to January 4. The cops said that an informer hinted them about 23-year-old, Prateek Singh Rathor of Uma Vihar Colony, village Kolua Kala. As he was held on Tuesday night from his home, he confessed to theft. Cops have recovered the booty of Rs 1.50 lakh from the accused.
