BHOPAL : Hailstorm and rains lashed many places in Bhopal, Betul and Raisen districts causing damage the standing Rabi crops for the second consecutive day on Saturday. Various divisions – Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Sagar, and Rewa — experienced rain in the last 24 hours on Saturday.
The weatherman said that the spell of rain would last for a couple of days though the clouds will start clearing from Monday.
Amarwara, Chincholi, Bhainsdehi, Multai, Chhindwara, Khandwa, Betul, recorded 3 cm rainfall in the last 24 hours while Indore, Depalpur, Atner, Gwalior, Lakhnadaun and Khaknar recorded 2 cm rainfall. Bhopal recorded 5.6 mm rainfall.
Rain and thundershower are likely to occur at many places all over the state over the next 24 hours. Hailstorm is likely at isolated places at Ujjain, Bhopal, Sehore, Raisen, Narsinghpur, Guna, Jabalpur, Damoh, Vidisha, Pachmarhi and Hoshangabad districts.
Upper Air Circulation over South Pakistan and adjoining West Rajasthan now lies over South Pakistan and adjoining South-West Rajasthan. The trough of low pressure area from Lakshadweep area to northern Madhya Maharashtra persists.
Western disturbance has created three systems-Central Pakistan-Rajasthan, North Pakistan and Gujarat and Trough of Low pressure area from Lakshadweep to Gujarat and Madhya Maharashtra. These three systems continued to infuse moisture in atmosphere and precipitating it in the form of rain in the state.
Meteorological department director Dr Anupam Kashyapi, talking to Free Press, said, “The weather won’t turn sunny for at least two more days”.
