Gurudaspur terror strike: City police mounts vigil at Rly stations, bus stands

BHOPAL : The Madhya Pradesh police on Monday sounded high alert in the wake of terror strike at Gurdaspur in Punjab. Following the alert issued by the State police the city police launched checking operations in the bus stands, railway stations and other busy areas of the city.

The cops frisked the luggage of the persons getting down at the bus stands while the government railway police (GRP) intensified its checking at the railway stations. Police collected details of the people who were staying at lodges and hotels of the city.

Cops also searched buses and trains for any suspicious material. Sniffer dogs and bomb detection and disposal squad were kept on alert following the instructions.

SSP Raman Singh Sikarwar talking to Free Press said that no intelligence inputs were received about any suspicious activity in the city yet as a precautionary step alert has been sounded. Officers have been told to keep an eye on outsiders residing in the hotels and lodges of the city to identify any suspicious person. Security has been beefed up at bus stands and railway stations of the city along with other public areas. Vehicle checking has been intensified to keep a check on the movement of anti-social elements. A watch over old criminals has been ordered to check their involvement in any unpleasant activity.

SP North Arvind Saxena said that the situation in the city is well under control and precautionary alert was sounded in view of the terrorist strike in Punjab.

He said that the city police along with GRP are keeping a vigil on all the people coming to the city. Bomb diffuser squad has been kept on alert.
