BHOPAL : Guest lecturers working in government colleges demanded to put on hold regular recruitment of assistant professors through MPPSC. The Supreme Court has asked university grant commission to frame new rules to make NET or SLET mandatory within a month, they said. A delegation of Madhya Pradesh Asthayi Pradhyapak Sangh submitted a memorandum to higher education principal secretary KK Singh and secretary of MP Public Service Commission in this regard. They said in March, the apex court said that the National Eligibility Test (NET) or State Eligibility Test (SLET) will be compulsory for appointment of assistant professors in colleges and universities. They around 100 petitions are pending in MP High Courts challenging rules for recruitment announced last year by DHE. Because of the petitions and the SC decision, legal issues have emerged in the ongoing recruitment process. It should be postponed in view of the apex court’s order and the department should wait for new UGC rules.
