BHOPAL : Engineers of PWD, PHE and other departments remained on strike on Friday in support of their single-point demand-suspension of Datia collector and SP in connection with slapping of an Executive engineer of PWD.
Because of the strike, the maintenance work of government buildings and houses in the city was paralysed. Construction works related to Simhashta and canal repairing and construction were also affected. As engineers of civic bodies also remained on strike in support, the work of these bodies was also hit.
Engineers were on strike under the banner of Madhya Pradesh Diploma Engineers Association and MP Karmachari, Adhikari Samyukta Morcha. On October 19, executive engineer Kamal Kishore Singare had charged Collector Prakash Jangre with slapping him and getting him detained by police along with his subordinate Sohanlal Gupta following a tiff.
The engineers have threatened that if Datia Collector and SP are not suspension till Monday, they will go on indefinite strike.
State president of Engineers Association Akhilesh Upadhyaya said, “The construction works related to Simhashta and irrigation, besides maintenance was totally paralysed. We have given ultimatum that if Datia collector and SP are not removed till November 9, we will go on indefinite strike.”
