BHOPAL : CID of MP Police would look into the fresh angle it got after arrest of Congress leader and advocate Vinit Godha in Syndicate Bank CMD bribe case, in hawala racket case busted two months ago in the city.
CID sleuths came to know that Vardhman Plaza located at Dawa Market, where raid was conducted on June 7, 2014, is owned by the Congress leader Godha. “This is new angle in the old case and will be taken up for investigation,” said ADG (CID) Rajiv Tandon.
CID had seized Rs 21.25 lakh, note counting machines, 36 ATM cards and 25 mobile SIM cards along with arresting three accused including Dharmendra alias Vishnu Prajapati and Brijesh Patel.
Both the accused were residing in the building.
Former legal advisor of Pradesh Congress Committee, was found to be having link with another hawala racketeer Purshottam Totalani who is on the run after CBI booked him in Syndicate bank CMD bribe case.
He has allegedly stood bail for Vyapam accused Dr Ajay Shankar Mehta and former senior system analyst Nitin Mahindra in two under trial cases. The PCC has issued an statement on Monday alleging that Totalni had relations with BJP.
“Totalani, who was running a small shop some years ago, became millionaire in short spell and had relations with BJP, RSS and senior bureaucrats,” said PCC spokesman KK Mishra.
