Badnawar : The frequent temple thefts in the town are expected to come to a halt as Badnawar police have succeeded in busting a gang of robbers. Police have also recovered the goods stolen by them. Seven thieves were nabbed however, one is still at large.
Informing about the same, TI Sunil Gupta police said that the thieves had confessed striking at Nageshwar Mahadev temple, Ekveera Mataji temple, Ramdevji temple and Mahaveer Vyayamshala. Harmonium, mobile phones, various ornaments and several other things were seized from them.
TI Gupta further informed the reporters that they acted upon on a tip off according to which, some suspicious persons gathered at Prakash Bhil;s house where they have conducted a raid and managed to arrest the thieves.
After strict interrogation, the thieves confessed about their involvement in temple thefts. Police said that further investigations are on and it is suspected that these thieves might be involved in Nagda thefts as well.
Police identified the thieves as Badri Bhil (24), Anokhi (26), Prakash (25), Bhaiyu alias Rajesh (25), Dharmendra (23), Iqbal (34) and Mohammad Shekh (24).
It is worth noticing that this raid was successfully carried out with the contribution of assistant sub inspector Rajesh Goyal, Kamal Sonarthi, sub inspector Umrav Shegokar, Ramesh Nayak and head constable Kailash Chauhan.
