BHOPAL : The Shahjehanabad police busted a gang of bike lifters on Tuesday and seized 10 bikes worth around Rs 4 lakh from them. The police also arrested three persons for buying stolen bikes. The accused hail from Vidisha and used to come to the city by bus. After stealing bikes from the city, they used to sell them for Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 in the rural areas of Vidisha district.
SP (North) Arvind Saxena said that during vehicle inspection near Idgah Hills police outpost, the cops stopped two youths riding a Maestro scooter and asked them for documents of the vehicle.
The youth were identified as Kalyan, 30, son of Khilan Singh Kushwah, resident of Muraria, Vidisha and Mahesh Kushwaha, 22, son of Mathuralal, resident of Sabdalpur, Vidisha. They could not produce any document. They were then brought them to the police station and during quizzing, the youth confessed to having lifted the vehicles from the Lalghati area within the limits of Koh-e-fiza police station. They confessed to having stolen more than a dozen bikes along with their accomplices.
On the basis of the information received from them, a team raided various spots and arrested Shyam, 22, son of Mardan Singh Kushwah, resident of Buradia Vidisha for vehicle lifting. While Rajendra Jatav, 20, Dashrath Singh Kushwaha, 25 and Narmada Kushwaha, 25, were
arrested for buying the stolen bikes. Police suspects that the accused were involved in half a dozen more incidents of bike lifting.
