Commuters request the vendors to move their handcarts aside

SHIVPURI: One of the busiest downtown roads near the court turns into the fruit market since early morning everyday. While the road is wide enough, the vendors encroach upon most of it creating traffic snarls for several hours during a day. The scuffles between fruit vendors and the passers-by are also witnessed many times.

The Court Road leads to the district hospital and towards many schools in the city. The buses with students pass from here in the morning and ambulance take patients to the hospital but the road is covered up with the vendor’s merchandise since 6am leaving just less than half of the roads for vehicles coming from either sides. Even the fruits are auctioned to the retail sellers from here.

The commuters request the vendors to move their handcarts aside to take their vehicles from the road but they remain busy dealing with their customers. The vendors said the administration has not allotted a separate place to them because of which they have to run their make-shift shops on the Court Road. They also said they make payment to the municipality. The local residentshave demanded that the encroachment of the kiosk holders should be removed to make the traffic smooth.
