Bhopal: Traffic jam is not new to the city residents as regular commuters of any area face it twice or thrice a day. However, there are areas which are getting infamous for the issue and need a plan to rid of the problem. Bhopal Talkies Square is one such area where commuters face the issue every time they cross through it. The area has got several shops around it and is one of the busier markets of the city.
However, owing to lack of planning it remains packed, which leads to the everyday jam.
A regular commuter in the area Mohammad Parvez said he was forced to leave for his office early as the jam invariably consumed his time. “We can conveniently travel on the road only during Sundays or other off days,” he said.
Local trader in the area Mahesh Sahu said the jam did not only create problem to commuters but also to customers. “We also feel the pinch when we close our shop to go home,” he added. “The traffic on the road from the bus stand and other areas meet at the square which is hardly managed. You will have to make your way through crawling vehicles to get out of it,” he added.
Shoaib Siddiqui, who commutes through the area to reach his office near Kolar has to leave his house early for the same reason. “If the condition of jam does not arise, we can save the time that we spend commuting in the area and use it for some fruitful purpose,” added Sidiqqui.
Another resident Isar Khan said the jam had caused inconvenience to almost everyone who passed through the area. The road connecting the bus stand to Bhopal Talkies had always been a concern for people as the route consumed maximum time to travel, he said.
