NARSINGHPUR: People are regularly cheated Nowadays through various fraudulent schemes such as identify the face through television and newspapers. In such schemes people are shown a photograph of any prominent figure and a reward is attached on its successful identification. When a person falls prey to such a scheme money is siphoned from him under various heads and amount is deposited through him in various bank accounts.
In such a case, Rajesh Soni, 45, son of Halke Bhaiya Soni, resident of Dhanare colony, fell prey to such a racket of fraudsters. An employee at the SDM office, Tendukheda, Soni called the numbers being displayed on the television screen after identifying the face of Sachin Tendulkar in a photo identification contest telecasted on an entertainment channel on December 12 last year.
Subsequently, he received a call on his mobile phone in which the caller declared him as a winner and recipient of a Scorpio vehicle.Soon after he started receiving several calls in which the caller posed as bank officer sometimes and some other officer at times which lured Soni.
When Soni fell fully in the callers trap and became confident of winning a Scorpio in the contest, they made him deposit a large sum of money in various bank accounts in the name of insurance, tax and various other expenses. Till the time he realised of being cheated he had deposited an amount of Rs 3,30,500 in the various accounts.
When Soni realised he was being cheated he went to TI Kotwali police station RK Gautam and narrated the whole incident to him. After investigation Gautam registered a case against Ranjeet, son of Ramchandra Patel, Ashok Mehto, Ankit, son of Dinesh Sharma, Amit Kumar, under sections 420, 34 of IPC.
The cops of Kotwali police station have appealed the local people to abstain from giving details about bank account number, ATM card number, ATM PIN to anybody and restrain from participating in any schemes like lucky coupon or lucky draw and photo identification contest as shown on TV, newspaper.
