BHOPAL : Four new patients tested positive for Swine Flu on Monday. Of them, one is from Bhopal while three are from other districts. All the patients have been classified as class A and are undergoing treatment at Hamidia and JP hospitals.
As many as 59 blood samples of suspected dengue patients were sent for testing, of which three have tested positive. The District Malaria Officer Akhilesh Dubey said that about 50-60 samples are being received daily for the dengue test. Due to large-scale surveys and larvae destruction, the number of cases has declined. “The surveys are being conducted regularly. Nearly 1000-1500 houses are being surveyed daily”, he said.
Patients dying before receipt of report
In at least four cases in the city, the patients died before the test reports of swine flu were received. All of them were on ventilator support and they succumbed before they were declared swine flu positive. At Hamidia, a child died on ventilator and the test reports came after two days. A similar case was reported from the People’s hospital. CMHO Dr. Veena Sinha, however, said that there in only two cases reports came in after the death of the patient. The two other patients died of some other disease, she was unaware of. Diseases like pneumonia and other similar diseases could be the cause of death as these diseases show similar symptoms once the patient reaches the critical condition. The patients who have been reported to have died of swine flu were admitted in a critical condition, she said.
