Mhow : Near about 400 teak wood and other green trees were reportedly cut in Choral Range of Indore Sub Division Forest in an encroachment attempt, though the forest officers claim it to be nominal loss and did have not taken any action.

Continuous flow of the tree cutting cases has led the Bhopal and Indore officers’ visit in the area but even the visit did not prevent the stony hearted one more time tree cutting in the area. Tillor, Chikhali, Ashapura, Ratwi and including other places around 400 trees have been cut over night.

The noticeable thing about the local forest department is that some of the officers have been posted here for more than two decades without even single transfer to any other place. This leads to suspicion about a settlement between the forest officers and the forest mafias and this settlement is reason behind the high scale encroachment of the forest land for agriculture use.

DFO A K Joshi confirmed that he has received news regarding the tree cutting but said only 50 trees were cut instead of 400 as claimed by the sources. SDO forest department V P Patel has been ordered to investigate the full matter and further action will be taken based on the report.
