Hospital inundated in Tyonthar; Tamas flowing above danger mark ,,
BHOPAL : The flood situation worsened in the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions on Friday. Torrential rain continued to lash various districts of the two regions.
Army has been deployed in Rewa, Satna, Chhattarpur and Panna districts for relief. Road connectivity has been totally snapped in various districts due to excessive rain.
In Rewa, nearly one lakh people are affected by heavy rains. Tamas River is flowing above the danger mark marooning 12 colonies. Amahiya Nullah swelled snapping road connectivity. Rewa-Govindgarh road connectivity has been totally snapped. Many transformers went out of order plunging many parts of the city in darkness.
Tyothar hospital is completely inundated and entire hospital has been shifted in PK School, Rewa. In Tyothar, 40 villages have been affected. Army has been deployed in Tyothar. All sluice gates of Bakiya and Bihar dams have been opened.
Bapu Degree College bridge was washed away in Nogaon and district administration stopped the traffic. In Chhattarpur, administration has declared holiday on Friday as well as for Saturday. Twelve sluice gates of Rangaon Dam were opened.
An alert for heavy rains has been issued for Satna, Chhatarpur, Panna, Katni, Sagar, Damoh, Vidisha, Raisen, Rewa, Sidhi, Tikamgarh, Bhopal, Hosangabad, Jabalpur, Sehore, Narsinghpur, Shajapur districts.
Maihar recorded 28 cm while Naugaon and Nagod recorded 21 cm each and Panna recorded 19 cm. Ajaygarh, Rajgarh and Chhattarpur recorded 17 cm each while Gurh recorded 15 cm. Rewa and Khajuraho each recorded 14 cm and Satna recorded 13 cm while Sidhi and Baxwaha each recorded 10 cm.It may be mentioned here that Rewa division is witnessing heavy rains since last one week. As many as 3200 people were evacuated safely by the rescue teams. People from 50 villages submerged under the water were evacuated. As many as six people have lost life during last few days due to the havoc created by the rains. Thirty Five relief camps have been set up in the flood affected areas and 20,000 people are camping in it.
As per the weatherman, monsoon remained active over Central and Eastern part of the country. Moreover, there is a cyclonic circulation over West Uttar Pradesh. Multiple weather systems will bring moderate to heavy showers over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. A fresh low pressure area is expected to develop over Northwest Bay of Bengal after 48 hours.
CM reviews situation: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while reviewing the condition arising out of heavy rains and floods in the Rewa division here on Friday said that the situation should be monitored continuously. In case of need for evacuation, army should be requisitioned. Minister for commerce and industries Rajendra Shukla was present in the meeting.
Chouhan directed the officials to maintain a continuous vigil over the situation. Helicopter services should be taken to evacuate the people. All the necessary arrangements should be made to evacuate the stranded citizens. Relief teams should undertake work continuously and motorboats should be sent as the situation demands. Control room should work round the clock and food and other arrangements must be ensured in the relief camps.
