BHOPAL : A fire broke out at the Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) office ‘Chhatrashakti’ at Depot Square near Jawahar Chowk on Tuesday morning. The fire erupted at the Nanaji Deshmukh Seminar Hall on the first floor of the building. No casualty was reported. Official sources said that around Rs 20-25 lakh worth of furniture and fixtures were destroyed in the fire.
The officials said that the fire erupted between 5 and 6 on Tuesday morning. The hall was locked. When someone saw smoke coming out from the cracks in the door, the hall was opened. By that time, flames had engulfed the entire hall and six ACs, projectors, LEDs, ceiling fans, chairs and tables and other pieces of furniture and fixtures were gutted. Those present on the premises doused the fire. On receipt of information, fire tenders also reached the spot. Prima facie, it seems that the fire was caused due to short circuit in the electricity supply lines.
