BHOPAL : Even as chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan assured to consider their ability and experience in deciding fixed honorarium, the proposal to provide Rs 25,000 per month to guest teachers in government colleges is still pending in the government departments.
No decision could be taken on the two-month old proposal because of lack of interest of senior officers, although the Department of Higher Education (DHE) started new session with opening of vacancies of guest teachers again.
To provide respectable payment to over 3000 guest teachers who qualified UGC norms, the government has assured to provide the fixed salary to them as being provided in neighbouring states like Chhattisgarh.
CM Chauhan gave hints in this regard to a delegation of guest teachers on May 1, 2015 to end their agitation.
“The proposal of fixed salary to guest teachers is pending with finance department. The DHE has given all detail including finance load in case of giving fixed salary to guest teachers,” said DHE officials.
Government colleges are operational at present only because of guest teachers whose number is almost equal to regular staff in MP as no regular recruitment continued in last 25 years in DHE.
It has caused frustration among guest teachers who are working for years and not getting respectable honorarium. Also, insecurity in the job has caused anger in them.
The government opened vacancies of assistant teachers through MPPSC in 2014 but could not complete recruitment because of lack of clarity on recruitment conditions. Guest teachers said, they would hold agitation again. “We are hopeful that this year, the government decided something in our favour. If not, we will again hold agitation,” said Atithi Adhyapak Sangh spokesman Dr Suryakant.
