BHOPAL : Three-day drama fest ‘Sahitya Parva’ began here on Saturday at Bahirang (an open stage) of Bharat Bhawan. ‘Rang Sangeet’, poetry collage ‘Kavita Yatra’, exhibition and symposium were held on the first day.
The festival is being organised to mark the celebration of 60th birthday of city-based author and vice chancellor of Dr. CV Raman University and AISECT University, Santosh Choubey.
The programme began with ‘Rang sangeet’, presented by 40 artists of Vihan Drama Works, Bhopal under the direction of Hemant Devlekar and Nitesh Maangrole. Artists of the group presented some songs from different plays of Vihaan including, ‘Bhola Shanker Nath….,’ and ‘Chor Chor…’, of play ‘Hasya Chudamani’, ‘ Dhan-Dhan Ho Bastar Ki Chandan Maati…,’ and ‘ Sanduk Mein Kya Bharta Hai…,’ of play ‘Ek Kahani Bastar Ki’ and ‘Chait Ne Karvat Li…’ of play Amrit beautifully which enchanted the audiences.
The programme concluded with an hour-long poem collage ‘Kavita Yatra’ which showcased the journey of eminent Hindi poets of 50s. Theses poems were ‘Wo Todti Pathar’ by Suryakant Tripathi Nirala, ‘Babul’, by Muktibodh, ‘Sabse Khatarnak Hota Hai Sapno Ka Mar Jana…,’ by Pash, ‘Mai Aur Tum’ by Agyeya, ‘Ghar Rahenge’ by Kunwar Narayan Singh, ‘Adhinayak’, by Raghuveer Sahay et al. These recorded poems were enacted by the artistes of Shadow Group, Bhopal in mime form wonderfully. It was scripted by Santosh Choubey, directed by Manoj Nair and music direction by Santosh Kaushik. The colourful light was brilliantly designed by city-based noted light designer Kamal Jain.
A painting exhibition of child artists of Devine Smile Sanstha also opened on the premises of Bharat Bhawan. The works of artists was based on poem of Choubey ‘Amma Ka Radio’.
On the occasion, renowned Hindi writers including Chitra Mudgal, Mamta Kaliya, Leeladhar Mandloi and others were also present and expressed their views on Chaubey’s works.
A musical CD of Chaubey’s works was also launched. The programme was conducted by city-based well-known art critic Vinay Upadhay. He also threw light on the creative journey of Choubey. It was presided over by Dr. Dhananjay Verma.
