BHOPAL : Minister for Finance and Water Resources Jayant Mallaiya said that Madhya Pradesh is getting its due share of 50 per cent water from Chambal Complex Project in which Rajasthan is also involved.
As per the agreement between two states, MP is getting 3900 cusec water from Chambal complex. Minister said that both the states Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have good rapport so division of water is being done as per the agreement.
Congress MLA Ram Niwas Rawat had raised the issue through call attention motion stating L-24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29 distributaries were closed due to which Rabi crops were being damaged. He had alleged that MP is getting 2800 cusec water in place of 3900 cusec water despite agreement.
Rawat also said that criminal cases have been lodged against farmers even though they did not damage the canals. Minister clarified that criminal cases have been lodged as farmers had damaged the canals. Criminal case has not been lodged against any innocent persons. Rawat had demanded withdrawal of criminal cases.
Minister Jayant Mallaiya said, “Land is being irrigated in Bhurendi, Danteti by L-24 distributaries and distributor L-26 irrigates villages Kheroda, Khurd, Arodhari, Banzare K Pura, Danglipura,
Kotwal Ki Jhopadi and so on. Similarly, entire region is being irrigated through various distributaries .”
