BHOPAL : Congress leader and former MLA Govind Singh Rajput’s grandson committed suicide by shooting self at CI Homes under TT Nagar police station just before leaving for Indore to attend his BE counseling on Monday. However, mystery shrouds the death as two shots were fired. One bullet hit a cupboard while the second was found lodged in his skull. What added further to the mystery was that the gun was recovered from a bag in the room.
As per the police, Rahul Singh Rajput, 20, of Sagar shot himself with the licensed pistol of his uncle Murat Singh at flat D-404, CI Homes colony under TT Nagar police station. Rahul Singh, along with his uncle Murat Singh and Pushpendra Singh (uncle’s friend) had come from Sagar to attend BE Counseling in Indore. He stayed for the night at CI Homes.
His driver Javed was preparing breakfast and Rahul Singh was in drawing room in the morning. In the meantime, Javed heard gunshots. Murat Singh and Javed rushed to the drawing room and found Rahul Singh in a pool of blood. They immediately took him to Hajela Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The reason behind taking extreme step is still unknown. However, family members of Rahul Singh said he was trying to take ‘selfie’ with gun on head and he accidentally pressed the trigger. No suicide note has been recovered.
Investigating Officer OP Chaubey said, “Prima facie it is a suicide case but two gun shots were fired. One missed and hit cupboard while second one hit Rahul Singh head. Postmortem has been performed and body handed over to family members.”
