DHAR : With Diwali just round the corner, administration has swung into action and sternly directed the license holders of firecrackers to follow all the provisions under Explosives Rule 2008 or else their license would be suspended. While presiding over the meeting of all the department officials, collector and district magistrate instructed them to make sure that the fireworks should be kept in a shed made of non-flammable material. She further directed that the temporary sheds and shops of firecrackers should be at a distance of at least three meters from each other and fifty meters from other areas.
The sheds should not face each other and no oil burning lamps, gas lamps or naked lights should be used in the shed or within the safety distance of the sheds.
Electrical lights, if used, should be fixed to the wall or ceiling and should not be suspended by flexible wire. Switches for each shop should be fixed rigidly to the wall and a master switch shall be provided for each row of sheds. She said that display of fireworks should not be allowed within fifty meters of any shed.
The local police station officials have been directed to monitor the firecracker sellers to prevent any untoward incidents
