BHOPAL : The three-day remand of 45-year-old auto-rickshaw driver who tried to kidnap and sexually assault the 21-year-old engineering student on Thursday ended on Tuesday. Police had asked for four more days of police remand but the court turned down the plea and sent him on judicial remand following which he was sent to jail.
ASP Rajesh Singh Bhadouria said that the court rejected the police’s demand and sent Sharif Khan to jail. He said the police had managed to ferret out enough information from him during the remand period.
ASP Bhadouria said that the accused Sharif during remand revealed that he robbed the laptop and mobile of the victim girl during the abduction bid and handed them over to his mother-in-law. Police following this information nabbed Shahnaz Bano, 50, and recovered both the items from her possession.
A case under section 120B was registered against Shahnaz Bano and she was arrested.
