Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Resentment in party-fold forced Congress to change candidates on four seats on Wednesday. With this the party has so far changed candidates on seven seats.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) changed its earlier announced candidates in Sumaoli, Pipariya, Badnagar and Jaora assembly seats.
The party has now fielded Murli Morwal from Badnagar. His supporters staged a protest and burnt tyres in front of state Congress chief Kamal Nath’s bungalow in Bhopal. Morwal has replaced Rajendra Singh Solanki.
In Pipariya, an SC seat of Narmadapuram, the party replaced Guru Charan Khare with Virendra Belvanshi. Local party workers were up against Khare as he was not a local leader.
At Sumawali seat in Morena, Congress has replaced Kuldeep Sikarwar with Ajab Singh Kushwaha. Following the collapse of Kamal Nath government in 2020, Kushwaha had won Sumawali seat in bypoll. However, he was denied Congress ticket this time resulting in a protest march by him and his followers.
The party has also changed its candidate from Jaora seat in Ratlam district. The party had initially given ticket to Himmat Shrimal. However, following a protest, the party has now fielded Virendra Singh Solanki.
Earlier, the party had replaced Avdesh Nayak with Rajednra Kumar Bharti on Datia seat, Shekhar Chaudhary with NP Prajapati from Gotegaon and Shailendra Singh with Arvind Singh Lodhi on Pichore seat.
