Edgy people feel earth shaking beneath feet on second day too

BHOPAL : The panic stricken people, who spent a sleepless night on Saturday as they could not recover from panic after earthquake tremors, felt more tremors in the sate capital on Sunday. The fright did not end for state capital people on Saturday and it haunted them for the second consecutive day on Sunday.

People in various colonies experienced fresh tremors on Sunday including Ashoka Garden, Govind Garden, Punjabi Bagh, Indrapuri and Govindpura where the intensity of tremors was the highest.

People moved out of their homes to avoid getting crushed under rubbles of caving in roofs. People living in multi-storied apartments and slums were the most panic stricken so whenever, they felt like tremors, they rushed out of houses. The terror was evident on their faces. Even in the nights, slums dwellers did not sleep peacefully. Boulders are used to fix the tin-sheet of their thatched house so it can easily collapse due to tremor.

As per the slum dwellers in the vicinity of Panjabi Bag, kutcha houses are at high risk as such houses are quickly demolished in tremors.

Darshan Singh of Ashoka Garden said, “The tremor was felt in Ashoka Garden and people were tens. However, they had come out of the houses for safety but they have not recovered from panic. We are helpless as they have only option to run toward the roads or open place for the safety.”

Corporator (ward -67) Girish Sharma said, “People felt shocks and aftershocks in Indrapuri. People were already panicky so they came out from their multi-storey apartments. Today is Sunday, so all the family members were at home so it was chaos on holiday in colonies”.

Sharma said, “People are in tension. However, neither casualty nor damage has been reported from anywhere. So condition is that they directly come out of houses even if any one raises alarm outside the house.

People are in regular in contact with meteorological department to know more and more about the quake. They surf internet to know the latest update.”
