BHOPAL : Director of Technical Education (DTE) Ashish Dongare has dragged the state government to the High Court for posting of IAS officer in the department for the first time.
The post of DTE is to be filled up by feeder cadre that is by senior principal of a government engineering college. In the writ petition, the DTE has made secretary, General Administration Department and secretary, technical education and Pramod Gupta, collector of Shajapur district who has been posted by the state government as new DTE.
The petition has been listed for hearing on Wednesday in the court of Justice Sanjay Yadav. Though, no notice has been issued to any of respondents in the case at present, the government got information about the writ petition through advocate general’s office. In the petition, Dongare sought high court’s intervention under articles 226 and 227 of the Constitution for protection of rights of the technical education teachers.
As per norms, the post of DTE is to be filled up from departmental officials on seniority basis. The government however, in 2004, abolished the process of promotion of engineering college principals by declaring the colleges as autonomous society. Since then, it handed over charge of DTE to polytechnic Principals ad hoc basis.
Technical and Higher Education minister Umashankar Gupta recently urged chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to post IAS officer as HoD in his department but at first, Chauhan rejected the proposal. Gupta again sent the file to CM.
