BHOPAL : A Hindi comedy ‘Chhupam-Chhupaiya’ dealing with the ill effects of dowry system on society, was staged here on Friday – the sixth day of seven-day comedy drama festival at the Shaheed Bhawan Auditorium.
It also sends out the message that we should give more weightage to the qualities and personality of our partner rather than dowry. Nayan is in love with Doly. But his parents won’t allow them to get married as they want dowry. So they elope and start living in the home of Natwar and Neela, who are relatives of Nayan.
The couple gives them a separate room in their home. While looking for them, Mohanlal, a maternal uncle of Doly comes there. To hide from her uncle, Nayan and Doli began to play a game ‘Chhupam-Chhupaiya (hide and seek) with Doly using veil. And the play becomes more interesting when other relative of Mohanlal come. The play end with the marriage of Nayan and Doli as well as social message to uproot the social evil ‘dowry’
Directed by Kailash Chauhan scripted by Vinod Jani the play was presented by Rangresj Kala Sanskar, Ujjain wonderfully which entertained the audience a lot. Sets, costumes, lights and music were handled finely. The fest is being organised by Nav-Nirtya Sanstha,Bhopal.
