Bhopal: Former chief secretary and current state election commissioner R Parashuram, gave lessons to newly-appointed ministers on government functioning here on Monday. Parashuram advised the ministers not to sign any file, irrespective of who has brought it, without going through it.
An orientation programme was conducted for ministers at Good Governance School to apprise them of the finer nuances of governmental functioning.
Parashuram and his team told the ministers that it was their responsibility to fulfil the assurances given by their predecessors in the state Assembly. He also briefed them how give reply to questions raised in the Assembly. The ministers were taught how to write notes on files. They were told about how files move between officers and ministers.
The ministers were told about the precautions to be taken before clearing a file. They were also made aware of the dos and don’ts before putting their signatures to files.
Information about how laws are made and about funds received from the Centre and governmental schemes was also given in the session. Parashuram told the ministers that earlier they were MLAs but now they have to give reply as ministers and they should be aware of their responsibilities.
Among the news ministers, Jaibhan Singh Pavaiya, Harsh Singh, Vishwas Sarang, Lalita Yadav, Suryaprakash Meena, Sanjay Pathak and Rustam Singh attended the session.
