BHOPAL : The Technical Education Department has issued an advisory to students seeking admissions in professional courses in private institutions in the state. It says that the students should not fall for any fee waiver scheme or other allurements.
The Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC) does not allow private colleges to offer free waiver. Directorate of technical education had taken cognisance of the issue after some private colleges announced 50 percent fee waiver for BE courses.
Technical education department said admissions will be given through online off campus counselling. It said direct admission in professional courses is not permitted and that the students should not fall into the trap of brokers, middlemen or agents of private colleges and should not give them original documents.
“The institutes are not allowed to keep original documents of the students. They should return them after verification,” it said. Students will have to submit only photocopies of documents. They should get receipt for submission of online application, choice filling and registration and reporting letter.
From this year, students can log in on online off-campus counselling through smart mobile phones. Seats are available in colleges for state domicile as well as students from other states. They can collect information from help centres at government or autonomous engineering colleges, polytechnics and women polytechnics.
