NARSINGHPUR: The police have arrested an accused on Tuesday night who absconded during the parole period. He was serving life imprisonment term for the murder of his brother. The superintendent of police (SP) had declared a reward of Rs 5,000 for his arrest. Some youth of Ronsera village played an important role in his arrest.

Addressing a press conference SP Manish Kapuriya said that on March 6, 2007 Brijesh alias Suraj, son of Dwarkanath Pathak, killed his elder brother. Subsequently, the district and session’s court awarded life imprisonment to him.He was released from prison on parole on December 2, 2013 for a period of fifteen days but he absconded during the parole period.

The jail superintendent in the aftermath of the incident had lodged a complaint at the Kotwali police station and a case was registered against him under the section 224 of IPC. After getting intelligence about the accused TI Ravindra Kumar Gautam had deployed a team of cops in mufti for the last 4-5 days and arrested him from the Shridham Express on Tuesday night. Kapuriya has declared to award the police team.

Accused Pathak has levelled some serious allegations on the deputy jail superintendent Hemant Bagde posted at district jail Narsinghpur. Responding to the questions of the journalists he said that Bagde often used to demand money from him and if his demands were not met he used to beat him up. He said that he has apprehensions that he would be assaulted in the jail.
