BEGUMGANJ: People were rocked after the diarrhoea breakout in the city on Tuesday night. As many as 138 affected persons were rushed to the civil hospital till late Wednesday evening in the city. The doctors on duty referred six critical patients out of the total persons to Raisen and Sagar district hospitals.
On getting information about the diarrhoea breakout at Begumganj, revenue minister Thakur Rampal Singh reached the civil hospital and enquired after the health of the patients. He spoke to the doctors and instructed them to prove proper medical care to the ailing persons.
Besides, former MLA Devendra Patel forged ahead of the revenue minister. He was one of the first politicians who reached among the patients on Tuesday night after the news about diarrhoea break out spread in the area. The workers of different political groups are handling arrangements and looking after the patients at the civil hospital.
The speculations are rife about the cause of the disease affecting scores of city residents.
While some are attributing it to a divine calamity, other said the untimely light showers which lashed the area on Monday evening caused the disease breakout. The doctors said it could have been caused by consumption of stale food items or the contaminated water. The local administration has also started to find out what is behind the disease affecting a huge number of people.
