BHOPAL : The Department of Higher Education (DHE) has issued new guidelines for appointment of guest faculty in government colleges, reducing their daily payment by putting a bar of maximum three periods each day. Uploaded on DHE’s website, the guideline says a maximum of three periods will be given for teaching to guest faculty members each day with the per period payment of Rs 200.Guest lecturers, teaching in government colleges for over 20 years, said the government raised their per period payment from Rs 183 to Rs 200 but it put a bar of maximum three period. They will get less after the change. Earlier, payment for maximum four periods was being provided to them.Facing shortage of regular teachers, State government every year appoints guest teachers for its colleges for 11 months and their number is more than the regular staff at present. In many colleges, only acting principal is regular and all faculty members are appointed on temporary basis.
DHE official said, colleges will advertise vacancies for guest faculty and online applications will be received. Colleges will be allotted according to merit basis.
In the guideline, the DHE made mandatory evaluation of guest lecturers. Students’ feedback will be taken in this regard. College principals have been asked to provide feedback form to students and collect them. Guest lecturers’ performance will be evaluated on the basis of this feedback.
