BHOPAL : Jewellery worth Rs one lakh was stolen from the house of Deputy Secretary, Industries Dr BK Baronia located in a covered campus “DK Devasthali” under Shahpura Police Station on Tuesday.

Deputy Secretary’s house burgled

It is the third consecutive case of burglars targetting houses in covered campuses in the state capital within the last three days. Two days ago, two theft cases were reported from Atlantic covered campus, Hoshangabad Road under Bagsewania police station.

As per the police, unidentified miscreants entered Baronia’s residence (Duplex number: 77). Relatives had come to Bhopal to attend a marriage function. The miscreants somehow entered the hall where Dr Baronia’s daughter and son-in-law who had come from Pune to attend marriage, were sleeping. They walked away with the jewellery boxes kept in the room, locking them inside. The guard raised alarm but then the miscreants had managed to flee. Guard Sriram Patel told the police that all were looking like labourers.

 When the son-in-law and the daughter got up in the morning, they got the door opened.

Investigating Officer Ashish Dhurve said, “We are collecting CCTV footage but as it was dark, it is not clear. The miscreants were four in number.
