Nagda : After a container truck transporting as many as 82 cows and calves was caught by saffron activists a few days ago, the demand for security check posts near toll barriers is gaining momentum by the saffron organization. Expressed anger against the police for rising incidents of transporting cows for slaughter houses, leaders from Hindu Jagran Manch have released a statement where they held the police of Ujjain district responsible for spurt in the smuggling of cows for slaughter. Abhay Chopra of HJM claimed that due to improper implementation of Cruelty Against Animals Act by police, transportation of cows for slaughter is on rise in the district so check post should be installed near all toll barriers in the district to curb the smuggling. Besides, the local administration is also hand in glove with cattle smugglers and their purchasers as they let them go just after getting money, he added. Police only completes formalities on documents but the real culprits remain out of the police net, claimed the HJM leader.
