BHOPAL: The college students of the city also voiced their protest against the gang rape of paramedical student in New Delhi and took out rallies from various localities of the city demanding strict action against the rape accused on Saturday.

The girl students of Vikramaditya College took out a rally to express their anger against the Delhi gang rape. The rally began from MP Nagar Zone 2 and passed through Jyoti Talkies, Press Complex, DB Mall, Board Office Square, Pragati Petrol Pump before culminating at the college campus.

At the end of the rally Principal of the college Deepika Singh while addressing to the people present in the rally said that strict laws should be made to punish the rape accused. The central as well as state governments should take serious steps to ensure the safety of women.

Meanwhile, students of Hamidia College under the presidentship of Khijar Ahmed also take out a rally from Kamla Park which terminated at Somwara.

The students also formed a human chain and demanded capital punishment for the rape accused and making of strict laws for the protection of women.

On the occasion Vishal Sharma, Narendra Meena, Bharti Pawar, Chetan Sharma and Avinash Jha and several other students were also present.

The social activists staging street play against gang- rape in New Delhi were allegedly beaten up by the staff of Kushabhau Inter state bus terminus over a dispute on Saturday. Few persons including the activists and mediapersons sustained injuries in the incident. Counter FIRs were lodged by the both sides in this regard at Govindpura police station.

According to information a group of activists led by Sikander and Atul reached ISBT to stage a street play. In over enthusiasm the activists including a number of girls and boys entered a bus to highlight the New Delhi incident in which a girl was gang raped in a bus.

The drivers and conductors raised objection and asked if they have obtained permission from the authorities. An altercation broke between the activist and the staff members. Soon the altercation turned violent and the activists were allegedly beaten blue and black by the staff members. The staff members also attacked the media persons covering the programme. The cameras were damaged and media persons were manhandled.

Govindpura police rushed there and took control of the situation. The activists lodged an FIR against the officials of ISBT for attack while the ISBT staff lodged an FIR against the activist for causing damage to government property and creating hindrance in official work.
