Bhopal High Court on Friday instructed the lower court for disposal of defamation case against Congress spokesman KK Mishra within six months. District court, on June 27, 2014, admitted a defamation suit filed by Madhya Pradesh government against the Congress spokesperson for leveling allegations against the chief minister and his family members.
Mishra in his press conference, on June 21, 2014, had said that majority of candidates who were fraudulently recruited as transport inspectors were natives of CM’s wife’s maiden town Gondia and that CM’s maternal uncle made recommendations for recruitment to MP Professional Examinations Board.
The suit also said that Mishra’s allegation of 139 phone calls made to MPPEB officials from the CM house is baseless and defamatory. It was filed under section 199 (2) of the CrPC (defamation of a public servant), demanding punishment under Section 500 (punishment for defamation) of the IPC.
