Dealer held for selling wireless sets to accused of spying

Bhopal : Police have arrested Mohammed Taha, owner of Royal Brother wireless shop of MP Nagar, on the charge of selling wireless sets to Waqar Khan, a private security agency operator, who was arrested for using banned frequencies.

Both Taha and Khan were produced in the court on Sunday from where they were sent to judicial remand till June 5.

They were produced in the court of JMFC Abhilash Jain. Khan was produced after his police remand expired on Sunday while Taha was produced after his arrest.

As per the police sources, Taha, sold four wireless sets to unauthorised purchaser Waqar who had license for purchasing only five wireless sets.

Police had recovered 80 wireless sets from the house of Khan for illegally tuning of wireless sets to banned frequencies.

Police suspects that he might be using the wireless sets by tuning them to banned frequencies to listen to classified information. Khan provided security to Bollywood stars during the functions held in Bhopal. However, his security agency was functioning without a licence. Police had booked him under the Telegraph Act. Khan is being interrogated, officials said. Police sources said that he gave wireless sets to people on rent for organising functions.
