BHOPAL : “In a recently held survey of the rural areas to assess the damage caused to the crops by scanty rainfall it came to fore that two services including the ‘108’ Ambulance Service and Public Distribution System (PDS) were the only services which were being implemented properly and widely appreciated. Now I want that the police force of the state to work in the same manner and get the same appreciation. It is possible only when police adopts a humanitarian approach while dealing with the people, said chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan while addressing a function on Sunday organised at the Police Telecommunications Headquarters.

“The Dial-100 scheme was conceptualised keeping in mind that police should reach the spot before they are called for instead of reaching late and be just spectators. It was one of the promises made by me in the election manifesto. Now the police would reach the spot and register the case then and there.

Officials said that this would increase the number of criminal cases registered but I think it is better to register a case early and control the situation than ignoring a problem till it turns bigger and becomes uncontrollable,” he added.

The much hyped ‘Dial 100’, a pilot scheme of the Madhya Pradesh government in line with the ‘911’ emergency service of United States of America was officially inaugurated in the state capital on Sunday by CM Chauhan. He flagged off 18 Fast Response Vehicles (FRV) for Sehore district which would begin operating after 15 days.

Home Minister Babulal Gaur said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi coined the concept of SMART policing two years ago but before it could be implemented MP has set up a benchmark by starting the Dial-100 Scheme and became a pioneer in the field. Earlier police used to reach at the scene of crime late and faced many difficulties due to dilapidated vehicles but now the situation will change.
