BHOPAL : The day temperature rose by five degrees Celsius over the last two days in the state capital. Mercury is soaring all over the state.  Weatherman attributed increase in temperature to moisture incursion. In Bhopal, the highest maximum temperature 37.6°C was recorded on February 22, 2006 while the lowest minimum temperature of 1.7°C on February11, 1950.

Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 35.3°C which was 7°C above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 18.3°C which was 5°C above normal. On Wednesday the day temperature was 30.3°C and on Thursday the day temperature was 34.3°C.  Therefore, 5°C increased in the day temperature. This is scene of all the places in the state as mercury continued to increase.

Meteorological department Director Dr Anupam Kashyapi said, “Temperature is increasing just because of moisture incursion in Madhya Pradesh. The condition will prevail for the next couple of days. It is withdrawal of winter. But after four to five days, there will be much coolness. Sky during February also continues to be mainly clear with light surface wind from northerly direction. With the receding winter, the mean minimum temperature gradually increases from 10 degree Celsius to 17 degree Celsius. There are rare occasions when the minimum temperatures drop below 5°C. The mean maximum temperature shows a rise from 27.0°C to 30.0°C during this month.”
