BHOPAL : Rashly-driven vehicles hitting the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor has become routine in Bhopal. And no initiative is taken to repair the damage done to the corridor. The damaged corridor is creating problems for the road users. Damaged railings are common in Bairagarh, Collectorate and Misrod Road.

A fortnight ago, a road accident had occurred at collectorate in which a

four-wheeler rammed into the BRTS railing, damaging it entirely. But it has still not been repaired. And this is not the only case. There are many places where the railings have been damaged.

BMC chairman Surjit Singh Chauhan had visited various sites to take the stock of the BRTS corridor and railings. But still nothing was done for repair of the damaged stretches.

Even during “Parishad Meeting” (General council meeting), Chauhan had instructed officials for repairing the corridor. But so far, no concrete initiative has been taken to complete the work.

Rajesh Singh, a BE student, said, “It is pathetic that the administration is not taking initiative for repairing. Maintenance and repairing is a continuing process as accidents will keep on taking

place. It is the responsibility and duty of the BMC administration to look after it as it is its baby. Such damaged railings are very dangerous as they may cause road accidents. So the administration is expected to take

prompt initiative to get it repaired. “
