BHOPAL: Yadwinder Singh, freedom fighter, Bhagat Singh’s grand nephew and President of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Brigade has demanded to incorporate biography of Bhagat Singh in school curriculum of Madhya Pradesh.
Yadwinder Singh arrived in Bhopal on Wednesday. Minister for State for School Education Deepak Joshi welcomed him at Railway station.
He made an appeal to publish an official list of martyrs of the Independence movement besides other related demands to recognise the sacrifice of those who dedicated their lives for the freedom of India.
He also demanded publication of pictures of martyrs such as Rani Lakshmi Bai, Shivaji, Chandrashekhar Azad, Subhash Chander Bose, Veer Savarkar, Udham Singh and Ashfaaquallah Khan on currency notes and naming of various national schemes, institutions and roads after them, displaying of articles related to martyrs at a national museum and removal of contemptuous adjectives associated with their names during the British period which were never corrected by the Indian government.
Yadwinder Singh said that SBS Brigade was working to inculcate patriotic spirit in the minds of the people of the country. He said that the government should take an initiative to declare Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his associates, along with other revolutionaries, as ‘martyrs’.
