BHOPAL: An RTI activist has demanded CBI inquiry into the death of three cubs in Bandhavgarh National Park recently. He alleged that the field director has violated the safety norms and as a result the cubs died. In last 20 months, 52 tigers had lost their lives in the state.
RTI activist Ajay Dubey alleged that three cubs were recovered when their mother was killed by the poachers at Sanjay tiger reserve on January 19. They were kept in Bandhavgarh and felid director Mradul Pathak had arranged unscientific arrangements for the cubs.
These cubs were exposed to many people violating the security norms of the wildlife security. On April 19, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and about 200 people visited the core area and were seen with the cubs.
Again on April 21, Railway Minister Suresh Parbhu and other 50 people also visited the core area and saw the cubs. And in very next day April 22 one cub died and on 23rd another and the third cub died on April 26. The field director had not taken precautionary method to save the cubs. Their feeding was done without taking hygienic measures and regularly interacting with the people, the cubs had died due to infections. He demanded that Central Bureau of Investigation, should conduct the investigation into the matter, not only this, but also the tiger deaths reported in state in last 20 months should also be investigated.
