Cops unravel two-year-old murder mystery

BHOPAL : The Nishatpura police on Thursday solved the murder mystery pending for the last two years in which the body of a businessman was found in a pool of blood lying on the back seat of his car parked near Rapadia Jod on Katara Road within the limits of Bag Sewania police station on December 14, 2013. He was also a journalist. Police arrested all the three accused involved in the murder. During investigations it was ascertained that the deceased was strangulated and then his throat was slit with a sharp-edged weapon. The accused had killed the businessman with a motive of robbing him. The nabbed accused were also involved in burglaries and robberies in the past.

IG Yogesh Chaudhary said that acting on a tip-off cops nabbed two youths from Best Price Store with a motorbike and when the two were not able to provide the documents of the bike they were detained and interrogated in which they confessed stealing motorbike and killing the cement trader Ratan Jaiswal in Bagh Sewania area in the year 2013. The nabbed culprits were identified as Mohammad Shakir alias Bhura (35), Farhan Khan (23) and Brijesh Ahirwar (32).

The accused were acquainted with the deceased and the main accused Shakir used to provide trucks for transporting the cement from the warehouse of the deceased. Shakir confessed that he was facing financial problems and was not able to pay the instalments of his trucks and was aware that Jaiswal used to collect around Rs 3-4 lakh on a regular basis which he took with him after closing the shop. He decided to rob the deceased along with Farhan and Brijesh and killed Jaiswal for his money.

On the day of the murder when the deceased was on his way to home he was stopped near his shop at Damkheda and miscreants boarded the vehicle and killed the deceased and later escaped with his wallet carrying Rs 20,700 and three gold rings.

The deceased was strangulated and later stabbed to death. During the investigation wallet of the deceased was recovered from Nadra Bus Stand while a mobile phone was recovered from Damkheda and another mobile phone was recovered from Rapadia Jod.
