BHOPAL : The SIT cops investigating the case of private security agency director Waqar Khan, who was held a week ago for possessing wireless sets tuned to prohibited frequencies of Army and police, seized around 79 more wireless sets, one repeater and two static sets from him.
Khan is on police remand till May 19. The SIT was formed on the orders from PHQ following his arrest at a crucial time just a day before the arrival of many VVIPs in the city. The SIT includes officials from Anti Terrorist Squad, Military intelligence and other agencies.
There were three sets recovered from his possession while he had set ablaze around 13 sets. Khan is said to have visited to Pakistan, Dubai and Nepal.
ASP Manu Vyas while talking to Free Press confirmed that the SIT recovered around 79 sets tuned to prohibited frequency from a house located in Housing Board Colony, Karond area on Khan’s information.
Khan was unable to give specific details as to why he purchased these many sets and could not produce supporting documents. He used to make calls to foreign countries and police is examining his call details.
Khan could not produce proper license to run high-end wireless sets nor had he taken requisite permission to run security agency. He has told police that he had purchased the wireless sets from Crawford Market Mumbai.
He used to run Defend Security Services Pvt Ltd from Bhopal Plaza, building and used to provide security services to high profile person including the celebrities coming to the city.
