Cops declare reward on fake bail racket kingpin

BHOPAL : DIG (SSP) Dr Raman Sikarwar has declared a cash reward of Rs 10,000 on the arrest of absconding kingpin of fake bail racket which was busted by the crime branch sleuths with the arrest of four gang members around a week ago.

Even after carrying out intense search operation for accused Raju alias Rajaram Meena, the city crime branch could not trace out the whereabouts of the absconding accused after which the police are now planning to attach his property including a house located at Bairagarh Cheechali in Kolar area in case he would not surrender.

Meanwhile, the already arrested four members of the nexus-Meena Singh, Basant, Ganesh and Khuman alias Virendra, who were involved in acting as guarantor for facilitating bails for the accused of different crimes in the courts, during their police remand revealed that they used to replace the sealed page of loan books with a fresh one and the same book was used later which was against the court rule.

It was also revealed by them that they were given hefty amount as commission by kingpin Raju Meena to facilitate bail by introducing themselves as relatives. They have facilitated 11 bails till date.

They further told police that gang members used to contact the accused who do not have any means of getting bail and would demand a hefty amount for bailing them out and once the accused got bail they would start searching for next client.

Interestingly they used to rehearse before going to court and would make acquaintances with the family members of the client.

ASP, crime branch, Shailendra Singh Chouhan said the investigation conducted so far revealed that the gang members used forged documents to facilitate bail.

The crime branch Bhopal has recovered documents and tools used to prepare the documents.

Police were able to nab the accused after two Nepali nationals, accused in the case of circulation of fake currency notes went missing after they were granted bail. During investigation, the documents used in the bail were checked and it was found that the loan books were forged.
