BHOPAL : Sensation prevailed in the TT Nagar area near Centre Point on Monday afternoon as the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of the police reached the spot and seized an abandoned suitcase left in front of IDBI Bank. Later it was cleared that it was a mock drill of the Bomb Disposal Squad of the police. The suitcase was taken to Dussehra Maidan and the bomb was diffused.
APC officer of SAF, MS Negi, who headed the operation, said that around 4 pm the squad got the information from the control room that a suspected bomb in a suitcase was spotted in front of the gate of the IDBI Bank in City Centre area. Acting quickly on the information the BDS along with fire brigade and ambulance reached the spot. The searching squad searched for the bomb and after finding it the bomb was later diffused in Dussehra Maidan.
Negi said that the drill was done with an aim to evaluate the preparation of various agencies. It trains the agencies to maintain coordination among them and prepare them for handling any unpleasant situation.
He said that the main aim of the team remains the security and safety of the public. The drill was important keeping in view the terror alert sounded by the state police.
