Cops bust gang of vehicle-lifters

BHOPAL: Police busted a gang of vehicle-lifters while recovering more than a dozen of vehicles from their possession on Sunday. Tilajampura police arrested five members of the gang and seized 6 four-wheelers and 11 two-wheelers from them. The gang was mainly active in the state capital. They have been sent to police remand. Acting on a tip off, police swung into action to swoop down the vehicles lifters. Tilajamalpura police constituted teams to have close vigil on the lifters and finally succeeded in cracking down the gang. In addition to kingpin Saud, those who were swooped down include Qalim, Aijaz, Sadiq, and Shafiq. Another gang member Guddu is still absconding. The arrested accused have confessed that they stole vehicles from nearby areas. Saud was also jailed previously for lifting vehicles. Saud has a dubious track record of vehicle-lifting. Gradually, more youths associated with Saud gang and started stealing vehicles. Many times they dodged police and lifted the vehicles. As per police sources, their main focus was to execute the planning of lifting vehicles from Bhopal. They targeted abandoned vehicles and then used to steal them with the help of master key. This gang is likely to shed light on more vehicle-lifting in the city. For a long time, police had information about the Saud gang. Kingpin Saud is expected to spill beans about other incidents of similar nature during further interrogation. At present, all the five vehicles lifters are on police remand.
