BHOPAL : A newly-married girl on Saturday told police that if her love-marriage was threatened, she would commit suicide. She married her boyfriend against the wish of her parents. The couple called on ADG Aruna Mohan Rao in this matter. It was a high voltage drama of parents of the girl who eloped with her boyfriend and tied nuptial knot on October 23. The venue was Mahila Thana.
As per police sources, Yashwini Jharria, 23, had affair with Randhir Singh of Ashoka Garden. They married on October 23 despite the girl’s parents opening a front against the marriage. The couple reached the Mahila Thana and narrated the story of parents who were harassing and pressurising them.
When Yashwini parents came to know about affairs, they sent her to Indore where her uncle lives. There she always remained under the watchful eyes of her uncle and aunty. She somehow managed to escape from her uncle home and married Randhir. The uncle lodged a complaint of missing person with Indore police which continued to make calls asking her to return to Indore. She told police that she tried to convince her parents but they were not ready for marriage. For the 15 years, they knew each other, she added.
As per the Mahila Police sources, the couple and the girl’s parents had come to Mahila Thana. But police counselled them before sending back.
Ashoka Garden SHO Manish Mishra said, “There is nothing serious. We intervened into the matter and counselled the girl’s parents. However, the missing person’s report has been lodged with Indore police by the girl’s uncle. The couple had gone to Mahila Thana. We also went there to convince the parents not to harass the couple.”
